The BBC reports on Sony’s decision to block PS3 Euro imports before its official European release, which means that European gamers will only be able to purchase PS3’s in March 2007.
I think it’s a shame that European consumers, and gamers from all other parts of the world other than the United States and Japan, have to miss out, or at least have to undergo a significant delay, on this piece of the next-gen pie.
For some gamers, the main point behind having next-gen hardware is having the latest, and getting “the cutting-edge” at least 3 months behind your American and Japanese counterparts contradicts the entire point of being cutting-edge.
How difficult is it to synchronize release dates across the world? Geographical location is becoming less of a factor nowadays, and I don’t think that it should be a factor at all.
But then again, I can’t really afford a PS3… I’m part of the market that waits for the price-drops .

read more | digg story
